Where our vanilla grows
Green beans come from farmer partners across four Indonesian regions. All curing, grading and packing happens at our own facility, the post-harvest process is ours, not bought in.
Sourcing regions
- Flores
- East Nusa Tenggara, where the dry season is longer and more pronounced than on Java. The region has become one of Indonesia’s recognised vanilla-growing areas.
- Sulawesi
- Rainfall is spread more evenly through the year here than in the islands to the south, and vanilla has been cultivated on smallholdings across the island for decades.
- Java
- Volcanic soils and long-established smallholder cultivation. Proximity matters operationally: green beans from Java reach our Magelang curing facility quickly after picking.
- Sumatra
- A large island with substantial highland areas and a long history of spice cultivation, giving a growing profile distinct from the eastern islands.
Estates and processing
Our curing facility is in Central Java. Keeping curing in-house is what lets us publish grade specifications with confidence, moisture, length and weight per bean are measured on our own line rather than taken from a supplier's declaration.
